Introducing the MOTHERHOOD GRACE PODCAST!

Here's a quick overview!

Episode 1:

Hi there, I'm Kate Markovitz.

AKA Holistic Kate on the internet... though I'm not sure how much longer I'll be keeping that handle. Can I start a podcast by saying that?

I am GRATEFUL to have you tune into this show right now. Pressing play already says something about who YOU are. A women who is ready for something different. Who is dedicated to learning and connecting.

Who am I? This is question I put way too much time into.

A year ago, I would have answered this question by saying I'm a mom, a wife, a business owner... I'm dedicated to helping women break away from the shoulds of life and wake up to the stories we are being fed.

But those at the roles I play in my day-to-day. That's part of my mission and purpose. It's what I do, not who I am.

I am an empathetic, open-minded, reliable woman.

I am driven to constantly learn and grow... a forever student.

I'm multi-passionate and believe in collaboration over competition.

I'm a type-A recovering perfectionist and challenge myself to grow in this area.

If you are into personality tests or astrology:

I'm a type 1 Enneagram - the Moral Perfectionist.

I'm an Aries and a Reflector according to human design.

I'm an Upholder, from Gretchen Rubin's 4 Tendency Framework.

And I'm an INFJ - "the Advocate" according to Meyer's Briggs.

I'd love to hear more about you too! Head over to @motherhoodgrace on IG and tell me a little more about you.

Why a Motherhood Grace podcast?

You may or may not, I have a business called Motherhood Grace. The idea grew out of a difficult pregnancy and postpartum experience... one where I realize how tragically we lacked resources specific to moms. I could find so much about different diapering methods and bottle comparisons, but I struggling to just understand what was happening to ME, Kate.

Why was I waking up with horrible night sweats? Why was I crying at everything? Why did I feel so resentful? Why did I feel like I had to do it all alone without help? Why was no one paying attention to what was happening to me?

I wrote my first book, the Postpartum Grace Guide as a result. It's a day-by-day resource for moms in the first year of motherhood... and I'm currently working on a Motherhood Grace Guide.

I'm not a fancy guru. I'm not perfect. I don't know it all. And I'm not claiming too... but one of my strengths is research and pulling together information in an easy to understand format.

Podcasts helped me not to feel alone in those early postpartum days... and throughout my motherhood journey. I'm recording this in March 2021 and I have an almost 4 year old daughter, who has woken so much purpose in me.

I want moms to love their lives... to stop the martyr syndrome we are seeing everywhere in media.

Yes, 100% absolutely motherhood has challenging days and weeks... but if we expect every day to be so, it will be.

I recently heard a quote "Challenges are what make life interesting. Overcoming challenges are what make life meaningful."

We cannot expect motherhood to be easy, but we also cannot get so stuck in the challenges we miss the beauty and the magic. Because motherhood is so very magical.

I plan on this weekly podcast being an inspirational resource for you. And I want you to be part of it. I'll be sharing my thoughts and questions... and then doing follow-up episodes that will share your responses too, because like I keep mentioning, I'm not the expert. I'm a guide and there are a million ways to mother well.... sometimes we just need a little help from our friends.

Every 5th episode will be a special episode sharing a round-up of some of my recent favorites... like my favorite books or accounts to follow or products to use. I know I always want to try the recommendations of my friends first... and I hope that's what we will come to be.

Again, thank you for showing up here. Your presence and listening is wanted and valued.

I'd love to hear from you anytime... I"m just an email away at hello@motherhoodgrace.com. Send me suggestions, questions, feedback - truly whatever your heart desires.

You are building this resource WITH me. We are reclaiming out motherhood, together.

Have a great week!
